“Later that night he’d fed her honeyed dates spread with goat cheese. Jura hadn’t even realized he’d known they were her favorite.”
Hi y’all! So I’m way overdue in sharing another recipe from Ignited but I refused to let opening week (happy birthday, Ignited!) pass by without some celebration.
This scene is actually from Chapter Two and Jura recalls a time when her father once showed her compassion. I’ve elevated the dish by including prosciutto but you can keep the dish vegetarian, Jura likes it either way.
For this recipe you will need:
Dates imported from Kitoi (I used pitted medjool)
Creamy goat cheese
Honey
Prosciutto sliced extra thin (optional)
First, have your Torch heat your oven to 350F and set aside a baking sheet. If you’re one of the Thirteen and have dragon scale on hand that works best and adds a great depth of flavor, but in a pinch just line a basic baking sheet with some aluminum foil and spray with some non-stick spray.
Slice the dates in half lengthwise (you may have to remove pit) and line them up with the sliced halves up. Spread a small portion of goat cheese across the center, drizzle with honey and season with salt and pepper.
Wrap each date in a sheet of prosciutto and place in the oven for 10-12 minutes, flipping each date at the halfway mark. Skewer with a toothpick for easy serving at your next luncheon and don’t forget to check for poison!
P.S. readers beware! These smell heavenly 🙂
